Good experience, first time there. Got a Turkey on a corrsaunt and fries. Both were very good. Service was excellent, that poor waitress was run ragged. She did everything but cook. But she was handling it well. Prices seem to be inline with other places. Would go again.
-
Amazing as always food was excellent

Delightful atmosphere and wonderful food

Super friendly staff. Waitress (Natashsa?) was super busy but still took care of us. And she made time to make a special drink for one of us who is very particular and picky. The soup was spectacular.
-
Good food, good beer, good decor, fantastic staff. This place is great!

This place was great! Excellent food and atmosphere, our Waitress was Natasha and she was Attentive and extremely friendly. I wasn't sure what I was going to have and had a few questions and she answered them and then let me know her personal favorite, which was a burger with peanut butter which I have never tried before, so I got it and was extremely impressed, it was excellent!
I will go back in a heartbeat next time I am in town. -
Love the funky, eclectic atmosphere. The food is uniquely fabulous. The staff is wonderful. While visiting in Cave Junction for 10 days, made a point of going there twice. Ian let me purchase a piece of decor, the Peace sign welded with rusty chain links. Thanks for everything Ian. Missing your food in San Diego, but I'LL BE BACK!
-
Best burgers and the owner actually cooks every meal! This guy and his crew really care about what comes out of the kitchen!!

Had the Timbuktu, absolutely amazing. The guy cooking (didn't get his name), around lunch time today, really knows how to cook a burger. I will definitely eat here again.
-
Let me start by saying I'm sad I only took a picture of the side salad!! Which was huge!! Another locally owned excellent eatery!! Waitress walked me through the menu effortlessly! Drinks were poured as we played with the options! The salmon ceaser salad was bomb bitery!!! I got the Reuben with a side of horseradish sauce that turned it up a notch! Im prefer a heat type of beat when I eat! He got the aussie hangover burger! The grilled pineapple,,with the egg,,and fixings?!?! Worth singing about!! Didn't get to oder the pizza pie yet but everything I saw walking out the door was edible and incredible!! You would think i got paid to pitch this post! Lol I just love watching passionate people prepare pleasantries and plate foodporn!! Hats off to the owner, the chef, and the cute blonde that waited on my and my brother! I'll be back!! #EWWE

Diablo burger was outstanding
-
One of the all time best spots in Grants Pass, a must see for visitors! All the food is fresh and excellent. The inside is unique and eccentric, the bathrooms are stocked with chalk so you can make your mark when in town! Can accommodate families.
-
We make a point to time our summer travel to hit Circle J for dinner every year during a long drive up the 5 from southern California. Great food, decent prices, eclectic and funky atmosphere, good for a family - we found it when our daughter was three or so. I really wish we had a restaurant just like it at home, we would be regulars.
-
It was crazy busy but the 2 servers were polite and fast

first Friday of the month, the lady that danced at 5:00pm was amazing!! We were just drawn in and mesmerized by the story her dancing was telling first Friday of the month check her out Rosa.
-
Food is yummy! Drinks are good priced. Bathroom has chalk board and chalk to draw or write something inspirational. Nice and friendly people work there and accommodate to you and your children's behavior to give you a nice meal and time.
-
Soooo delicious! We stopped in because we were exploring historic downtown Grant's Pass and the other restaurants around it seemed to have very limited menus. Loved the Lei pizza pictured. Fresh pineapple, surprising taste with the sweet of the cream cheese. HIGHLY recommend. Wait staff were awesome. Small space, but it felt cozy rather than cramped. Our tables was about a foot from a table of 2 friends and their teen daughters, their chatter and giggles barely made it to our table. Thank you, great experience. We will be back.
-
Krystal is the best server in town always happy and friendly! Food has awesome

-
Best pizza and ranch ive ever had. They also have the real Mona Lisa there
-
Hands down, best fish taco ever!. Discovered this gem on their appetizer list and give it 5 Yellow Saphires. Fresh Cod marinated in a family secret sauce perfectly Chef'd to light, puffy and crisp, not burned savory chunks over two cheesed-corn tortillas layered under a who's who of sauted tomatoes and veggies. Resembling more a Lion Fish than Taco... I ate it all with a fork.
-
Took 30 mins j to get a menu

On our way from LA to Portland and stopped here for lunch. Kids had the chicken tenders with fries and grilled cheese with sweet potato fries. I had the vegan patty on the diablo burger and so good! My husband had the club sandwich and all of us loved our food. Great service and food came out really fast. Not crowded at all. Highly recommend. Bathrooms were decent, although my husband said the men's room needed attention.
-
I gave this a 4 star instead of a 5 because my dinner was amazing and my husband's was not. I ordered the salmon Caesar salad and my husband ordered the chicken Caesar salad. My salmon was moist and warm on crisp bed of mixed greens. The salad dressing had good flavor, although a bit on the light side. On the other hand, my husband's chicken Caesar had dried-out chicken that looked like left over lunch meat. His salad had less dressing than mine did. It was not very appetizing. The side of bread was very tasty. I would go back and order the salmon Caesar again. I recommend you avoid the chicken Caesar.

Super cool decor, yummy pizza

Visited here for the 1st time today....
Idk why I haven't tried this place before.
Had the FISH & CHIPS with a side of Onion Rings.
Got all the accoutrement, Tartar, Cocktail, Malt Vinegar & Lemon Wedges.
It also came with Slaw.
The fish was crispy & hot. Very tasty.
Fries were good.. inbetween a shoestring & a steak fry.
Beer battered rings tasty.
The slaw was the low point but if thats the biggest faux pas ...count me in.
Sprinkle some S & Freshly ground Pepper on it & it'll be fine.
The prices were fare & better than most places in town.
Spending locally is better for the economy.
The staff was friendly, pleasant & very accomodating ..made the visit worth it too.
It's not only food that keeps customers coming back. Keep up the good work.
Def coming back.
I will update after my next visit as for now they have my vote.
Great Job. -
The service is friendly and accommodating, the food is hot and delicious, and the atmosphere is casual and inviting. Everytime I come to town I come here for a good time with my family. The heart breaker is my favorite pizza.
-
Later in the week, I dropped in with friends at dinnertime and ordered their signature hamburger called "Go Nutz." It is served on a super soft ciabatta bun, thin layer of mayonnaise, chipotle 'jam' that is sweet and tangy, a fresh ground beef patty (which you can substitute chicken breast), pepper jack cheese, and a thick layer of peanut butter. It sounds crazy, but it's truly delicious! (I substituted swiss cheese instead of having the pepper jack). The french fries are crispy and awesome!
They have a full bar and the place is kid friendly.
-
Great food, friendly service, awesome decor and music.
-
Best Chicken Caesar salad in town and the bread..oh my! Everything I've tried has been delicious. LOVE the chefs & staff. They remember who you are and what you like!
-
My wife and I had dinner last night. I had a French Dip sandwich and she had a vegetarian sandwich. We both opted for a salad as we ordered a basket of fries also. The fries were awesome, and the salad was plentiful. My French Dip was tasty though they should have provolone instead of swiss and the au jus was cold. Never had it cold before, the sandwich was hot so it all worked out. All in all we had a nice meal and would recommend this place. Next time we will try the pizza.
-
Fast service and great food! My mom ordered the sweet potato fries and we both agree they're the best fries we've ordered from restaurant! The cesaer salad was awesome and atmosphere was super cozy, we'll definitely be coming back soon.
-
Server was great. Lady with tattoos. Served fast, the food was great. Would recommend and will also be back. Thank you.
-
Great food! Great People! Fun and entertaining atmosphere.
-
Nice environment with good food at a fair price. I had a cheeseburger the first visit to their restaurant. Tonight I had pizza and both meals were amazing. I'm really picky about flavors and was thrilled to find a place I enjoyed so much. I wanted to buy a shirt for my friend to wear on his youtube channel but sadly they didn't have XL.
Will be visiting this place again often. -
I took my mother out for a lunch as her first time in Grants Pass. Ashley (with the awesome blue hair and arm tattoo) was very caring, charismatic, and checked up on us. The appetizers were hot and phenomenal, the coffee was delightful and warm, and my food was so good I was genuinely excited to eat my leftovers, all for a cheaper price than most diners in southern oregon and an atmosphere to die for!
Bonus: EVERY time I go into Circle J's, the music is absolutely bumping. Keep up the fantastic work and keep keeping it real guys!
-
This place has some of the best service who are so sweet and funny! The food is to die for! This is always a first choice for dining out! Love it!!
-
Good service, good pizza, love the quirky atmosphere. The pizza is made on a thin, crisp crust and the toppings were fresh. They have a decent beer selection as well. The restaurant is fairly small so not the best choice for a large party but otherwise very nice.
-
Food was some of the best I have had from anywhere in a long time! Great atmosphere and fast and friendly service! I Will definitely be putting Circle J as a new frequent dinner spot!
-
Delicious wings and burgers. We got the diego and go nuts. The ceases salad and blue cheese dressing were excellent too. Love the vibe and the staff was very friendly. No pics of the food cuz I ate it all
-
Hands down one of my most favorite restaurants in town. Food is great! Good portion sizes for the price and the sweet potato fries are to die for in my opinion. Definitely worth eating here!
-
This was my first time here and I will be back. This place has something for everyone to look at, to drink, and/or to eat. The food I ate and the food I saw on other people's plates convinced me that every dish is skillfully & conscientiously prepared. Lots of homemade creations, too!
-
Great tasty food! Great menu choices. Service great too.
-
Great service, good atmosphere, delicious food. Can't get much better than that. Ordered the lamb gyro...wow! Gotta try it people. So much flavor that my tastebuds were humming.
-
A little hole in the wall with awesome food. It has an interesting aesthetic but it is laid back and the people are great. I stop here for lunch 2-3 times a month and I am never disappointed.
-
The food is pretty good here and I enjoy just looking around at the decor. There are some very random and unique things on the walls. It is sometimes hard to choose what to eat, because there are so many appetizing options on the menu. This is the first place I ever tried sweet potato fries and I've never looked back. Service is alright, but not the best. I have yet to order something here that I didn't like.
-
Best wings ever! Period. There are none that compare and will definitely be stopping every trip North, no matter what. Service was very enjoyable and has a nice atmosphere about the cafe.
-
The service was excellent. The girl with the blue hair handled all 5 of us with grace, efficiency and fun. She is a pro..
Now let's talk burgers..try the one with Peanut Butter. It sounds weird but OH My Ggaawwddd. Just awesome
-
Excellent food, atmosphere and music! I was really glad we went in and ate here. I love going to places like this where you can look around for an hour in a restaurant and feel like all the eclectic decor is an expression of the owner's own personality (like The Nest in Bellflower, CA). Heard the Stones, Led Zeppelin and the Chili Peppers and more while we ate there. My Mr Pibb stayed full despite my best efforts to empty it. And I was torn between the Diego Burger with sprouts, pepper jack, avocado and jalapeo and the Go Nuts Burger. Ultimately, it was peanut butter, bacon and raspberry Chipotle sauce on the Go Nuts for the win. I was not disappointed! Plus the local and craft beer selection is pretty good!
-
1st thing: I love the ambiance. The vibe inside the restaurant is so unique, and I just love the style- like the cookbooks on display, and other cute stuff. I can't explain this style well, it is kinda like southwestern meets House of Blues, but it is really cool- I know that much to be true!
2nd thing: The food is LEGIT. I had the smoked salmon caesar salad, and it was the best smoked salmon caesar I've had anywhere, that I'm aware of. Better than anything on the Oregon Coast, or other coastal towns that I've traveled to that specialize in salmon, this was just done well. And, I like how they prepped the salmon into small bits instead of blackening and throwing one big chunk on the salad. It was really delicious.
3rd and final thing: The servers are great, no issues in any of my visits there. If in doubt of what to order I definitely suggest the SWEET POTATO FRIES, but they have pizza, sandwiches, and other things you can't go wrong with. -
Cool, eclectic atmosphere! My Go Nuts (PB) Burger was outstanding, my wife loved her Greek Chicken Sandwich... and our Fried Calamari was fresh and soooo yummy! Friendly staff! Great dining experience!
-
I would say that Circle J's has some of the best casual dining fare in Grants Pass, as well as the best fish tacos I have had anywhere. I love their burgers and sweet potato fries. Their pizzas are excellent as well.
-
Great tasting food. Their burgers are unique and very messy. Bring your appetite and ask for extra napkins. This place is basically a downtown small town dive pub style restaurant with decent service and some typical items, but also very unique pizza and burger options that are definitely worth trying. If you are looking for good food on the downtown Grants Pass strip, I recommend this place. They have plenty of good draft beer options as well. Sitting outside is nice, but very limited due to sidewalk space.
-
Circle J is a small casual environment. They have a small but great menu with something for everyone. There is also a good selection of beer and wine. Depending on the day and time service can be a bit slow but is always friendly.
-
So excited to find this place! Came in for a quick dinner with my 2 year old. Got a table & food quickly. Food was fantastic...especially the burger, which was yummy even heated up the next day! We didn't get pizza, but somebody sitting at a table outside said they were great too. Decor was really fun...kept the little guy entertained. We'll definitely be eating here whenever we're in GP.
-
I'm vegan my bf isn't we ordered a small half and half all veggie no cheese (vegan) and their version of Hawaiian. It was delicious. The waitress was helpful and knowledgeable with really fast service. Cute atmosphere.
-
Best burger in town. Try the Diablo burger!
-
Excellent food and service. Great atmosphere
-
Chill place to get a good burg or some tasty pizza. Staff is always attentive and personable.
-
The food was really good and the staff was friendly. Loved the atmosphere and the menu made me want to keep coming back.
-
Best Burgers in Town. Hands down. I have tried them all too. I am kinda a food snob and it takes a lot to impress me. The burgers here impress me. Nuff said.
-
Tiny Place Big on Taste
Circle J is a tiny little restaurant in the historical downtown section of Grants Pass, just off of 6th Street. It is a very tiny restaurant with the best gourmet hamburgers in town. The burgers are served on Artisan bread with your choice of some fantastic cheeses including blue. Make sure you get the sweet potato fries to go with your burger, they are awesome! -
Excellent Gourmet Pizza & Burgers Plus Great Atmosphere !
If you're tired of the "same-o same-o" style of pizza and you've thought that there must be someone out there that has created something a little new & different to tickle your taste buds with tantalizing and tasteful delights in the usually predictable realms of pizza; Then you will be totally refreshed and excited by a few somewhat bazaar combinations and of coarse those undeniably irresistible selections of freshly made to order mouth watering gourmet pizza pies that you may order only here at Circle J's. -
Circle J
This restaurant has ecentric and amazing cuisine. -
Yumm-o
Best pizza in town! -
My Favorite Resturant
This is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is incredible and everything taste homemade and fresh. I am not a soup person at all but whenever I go I always try the soup of the day and it's always worth it! Their sandwiches are beyond good, and the pizzas are delicious. Inside the resturant it's very eclectic and a fun atmophere. Worth going there and very reasonably priced. -
the Pizza is great as well as the beer. not your standard pizza either. i hit up the"8ball" and t was a great choice. awesome cozy atmosphere
-
We tried 4 of their pizzas and loved all of them. They have some very creative pizza types and each of them were delicious and worth the price. I can't wait to try more of their menu. The food was quick, and the atmosphere can make you forget you are in tacky GP.
-
I have eaten at Circle J Cafe many many many times over the past several years and every meal has been delicious. I have never been disappointed by the food. A couple times I have had to wait for service or called in a to-go & been put on hold & forgotten but when that happens I just call again! House Grilled Cheese is amazing--feta, greek olives, artichokes. There is also an avocado sandwich that is very tasty. The soup of the day is not always my pick but when she makes cream of artichoke or cream of mushroom with blue cheese or creamy tomato basil I jump all over it. I don't get the pizza very often because it takes a little while to cook & I'm usually there for lunch and every time i do get the pizza I wonder why I don't get it more often! The martini pizza (canadian bacon, white sauce, green olives) or heartbreaker (cheddar & potatoes) is my pick. Bread is made fresh daily (and is great!) as are chocolate chip cookies which are huge and sold for just a dollar. My favorite afternoon pick-me-up no doubt!!
-
This place is one of the types of restaurants I have been looking for where I live in Sacramento. The service was great and the food was excellent. I had a house salad that was huge and full of all the perfect ingredients. I did get to taste the blue cheese burger and sweet potato frys...so very good and next time that is what I'm getting!
-
Good burgers great draft beers. Service is a liitle slow, once you get past that the meal hits the spot.
-
Worth a side trip if you want something special for lunch. Cafe looks like a renovated bar in an old brick building. The staff is friendly and the food is exceptional. I had the best bleu cheese burger ever and my daughter said her grilled cheese was also the best. The sweet potato fries are to be tried and enjoyed. I will definitely stop by when I am in town again.
-
Circle J probably has one of the most creative menus in this sleepy little town, serving pizza, sandwiches, burgers and salad. Their house grilled cheese sandwich (marinated artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, feta & pepperjack cheese and tomato on grilled sourdough) is mouth-watering! Of the 15 different varieties of pizza, many of which are meatless, all that I've tasted are delicious. I really enjoy the funky decor and feel right at home at Circle J. A relatively new establishment, they have a few kinks to work out (i.e. you should be open when your sign says you'll be open!) but Circle J is worth a visit.
-
My husband and I stopped here on our way home fro Lotus CA to Bothell... Grants pass?!? I didnt even know there was anything here and Im so glad we stopped because thereis a lot of neat places there. Circle J has awesome food and an awesome atmosphere. We both had burgers that were delicious. We shared a great caesar salad and sweet potato fries. It was all delicious, we also had great service! We will be back on our next road trip!!
-
Got their house grilled cheese with a side of sweet potato fries - it was amazing. A really nice break from most of the crap-food I end up consuming on the road.
-
Excellent sandwhiches: ham, pineapple, cream cheese, jalapeos = genius! Nothing that will blow your mind but I can't imagine it getting too much better in grants pass. We left very satisfied and our waitress couldn't have been more attentive and friendly. Oh and bonus points for gorgeous blueberry vinagrette on my salad.
-
Circle J is one of the best restaurants in Grants Pass. The food is always good. Great sandwiches, soups, salads, and pizzas. The atmosphere is fun. We usually get there at least once every two weeks. Great fries too!
-
We consulted yelp for a restaurant for lunch on our way back to California from Portland. All I can say is, "awesome"! Great sandwiches, service and charmingly funky atmosphere! We may move to Grants Pass just for the opportunity to eat at Circle J!
-
Food tasted awesome. The only issue I had was with the portion size of the Greek chicken sandwich. Very small, 3oz butterflied breast. I thought nine dollars would get me something a little bigger. However, the server was awesome about it and made it right. She hooked me up with more of their awesome fries!!!
-
Amazing pizza--thin crust and so covered w/fresh veggies and roasted garlic, almost impossible to pick up off the tray. The salad of extremely fresh greens w/blueberry dressing also was outstanding. Add in fantastic service, and we'd return here again and again if we lived nearby. Bonus: Stop in to see the decor if nothing else--from Elvis to Jesus to disco balls, this place has it all. :)
Update: How could I forget to mention the terrific beer selection--on tap--including Ninkasi, my new fave?!
-
I hate going into a restaurant and ordering a chilled wine and getting it warm!! Not Circle J's I have ordered wine and it's so cold!! You guys rock. Your food is delish. Your waitress' usually have a great attitude. Good Job!
-
Funky place, great food. Only complaint is that it's a little dark if you are seated towards the back of the restaurant. Otherwise, very cool!
-
Cute, small restaurant. THE BEST chicken caesar salad I have ever tasted.
-
We found this place on Yelp! With 4-1/2 stars we decided to try it. WOW! The pizza was fabulous. Thin crispy crust with very fresh ingredients for toppings. We had 1/2 and 1/2 with the Sister Mary and Martini toppings. Tomorrow night we plan to try one of the sandwiches. They looked yummy, too. The lady at the next table looked as though she was in heaven when she took her first bite. Not sure what she had, but she definitely liked it.
The place was real eclectic. When you visit be sure to look around at the decorations. There must be a couple hundred of cookbooks laying around. This is a must try and a place you will want to return to when you visit Grants Pass.
-
There are at least 2 ways for eating establishment to get a 5 star rating; 1) have excellent food and 2) have a wait person who is very nice, friendly, very helpful with menu choices and also recommends an excellent tap beer based on a persons likes and dislikes. My wife and I experienced this today at the Circle J. We will be back here in a heartbeat. I had a list of the top, in my book 8 possible places to eat in GP and Circle J was first on my list based on Yelp rating and careful analysis of each reviewers comments.
I had the Smokey Salmon sandwich with white fires and a Downtown Brown tap beer. My wife had the Salami & Swiss Cheese sandwich with sweet potato fries and the Great White tap beer. We both were very happy with all of our selections. In fact we even went for the chocolate cake that was outstanding in so many ways.
When we flipped the menu over to look at the pizza selection we decided there were at least 6 we would like to try but it would also be very difficult to agree on. Next time it will be a pizza.
On this visit they were also playing very soothing music at an acceptable level such that we could carry on a normal conversation across the table with each other. -
The food here is really great, but a little greasy when it comes to most of the sadwiches. the salads are good but MAN: you gonna have some garlic breath after the Cesar salad. I'd probably give it a solid 5 stars but i can't since i can only go to this restaurant when i have like an hour or more to kill... even when ordering light
-
Fun place. The BBQ chicken sandwich had a nice tang, and chicken noodle soup was fresh and unique. Small place, but friendly and unexpected.
-
Went here tonight to treat myself to dinner, my honey was at a late class. I absolutely love the decor and lighting in here. I had the salmon caeser salad. It was delicious! I read another review on here that said it was loaded with pepper flakes and had too much dressing. They must be reading Yelp reviews because this was definitely not the case. Perfect amount of dressing and a good size, though, not so huge I had leftovers or felt overstuffed by the time I was done. I have eaten here before and their sweet potato fries are the only ones I've ever actually liked. Will try the pizza next time as I saw a few in the restaurant and a few take-outs.
-
We LOVED this place!!! We are in Grants Pass for a couple of days' vacation and the reviews made this place sound interesting. We love unique and smart restaurants and this place delivered! I had the Rice and Beans soup with Chorizo sausage. Excellent. We also had onion rings as an appetizer. Very good. For my meal, I had the Timbuktu burger. Pickled beet, fried egg, caramelized pineapple and banana peppers!!! On a burger!!! It was fantastic! My wife ordered the Midnight Rambler pizza. Tabasco soaked smoked oysters, garlic, white sauce, bacon and mushrooms. What a unique combination! It was spicy and the crust was perfect! On top of everything else the beer selection was spot on! I had a Laurelwood Free Range Red and a Ninkasi Total Domination IPA. Really good beer!
The atmosphere was very casual with fantastic and entertaining things to look at. The music was 60's rock. Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Doors... Our waitress was very friendly and very helpful. Please, residents and visitors of Grants Pass, patronize Circle J. There need to be more places like this!!!
-
I..am...in...LOVE with this place. I can't believe I didn't find it sooner. The decor is riveting with lots of interesting conversation pieces. There is a fun, retro ambiance to this place. It's a pretty tight space but we were packed in with a lot of good natured "first friday revelers" so it was all good.
The folks at the table next to us got two of the pizzas. They looked divine...I'm going to try one next time.
We opted to split the Caesar Salad, a cup of the Salmon Bisque and we each ordered a burger...I got the cheddar bacon and mi esposo the mushroom burger.
The Caesar was delicious. A true Caesar dressing with heavy garlic and a hint of anchovy. Best Caesar I've had in a long time. The soup was SO savory and delicious...amazing.
The burgers were huge and came with sweet potato fries. I've had Sweet Potato Fries before and they didn't taste this good. I think I may have had them for the first time...the right way...at Circle J.
The burgers were monster huge with a heaping portion of grilled onions. I couldn't finish or I would have seriously hurt myself.
I got a box to take it home. Was it a styro box? A plastic box? No. It was a recycled, food grade paper box. Maybe not such a big deal to some....but a big plus for me.
The service was outstanding despite the fact they were packed wall to wall. You could tell the wait staff was used to hustling.
I'll be back...as often as I can. -
This place was my first stop in Oregon. I was skeptical as to coming here 'cause there weren't that many reviews, but I'm so glad I did! Thank you Yelp! I'd imagine this is how an old town saloon looks like, very colorful inside. Made me feel like I was in the cowboys era. I felt out of place at first because this place was filled with people and my friend and I were probably the only Asian there. Right when we walked in, it felt like everyone was gazing at us, just for that instant though. Pretty funny just thinking about it. We were then seated by a waitress with big, BEAUTIFUL eyes and she was way nice. Wonderful service. Upon recommendation, I got a sandwich that had a cranberry spread in it, don't recall what it's called, but it was delicious! Added avocado to the sandwich and with a side of sweet potato fries, it was a match made in heaven! My friend had gotten the pastrami sandwich which had jalapenos in it and it was very good as well. If only this place was near me, I might just become a regular!
-
5 star or not, second time around I'd usually order a different item.......But the Smokey Salmon sando is that good, unique and well crafted that I ordered it once again......still deleted the mayo. This time my wife came with me and ordered a fish and chips basket, fish was real good, Cole slaw excellent.....The Smokey Salmon is a really great sandwich, every bit as rich and satisfying as a greasy cheeseburger, but healthy.....sweet potato fries just as great as before, I mixed a little catsup with Tabasco habanero hot sauce, and the combo of sweet and hot worked well with sweet taters. If I were to think of the 10 best sandwiches I've ever eaten, this would be pretty high on that list. Great, bizarre decor......think Haight Ashbury/ old time brothel/ country music bar. Pleasant, efficient waitress, good selection of microbrews, and a quick kitchen. Not many restaurants offer a grilled fish sandwich, let alone a salmon sando, and the combo of grilled salmon, cilantro pesto, sliced avocado, red onion and a thick stack of romaine really works, no mayo needed. I usually order most sando's with cheese, but the rich, fatty salmon and avocado need no cheese.
-
We've been traveling and eating out three times a day for a week. I wasn't even excited to be getting dinner and my expectations weren't high, but boy was I surprised. I took the adorable and friendly waitress's suggestion and got the French turkey sandwich. It was turkey, cream cheese, and cranberries all toasted and piping hot on a French roll. It was melty, gooey, amazing! I had a really nice, fresh, veggie packed green salad on the side. My husband had a really delicious burger with blue cheese and mushrooms which was also served really hot, juicy, and mouthwatering good. I loved this place. Many great sounding things on the menu it's hard to choose- good luck!
-
am i really in grants pass? it's so great to see a place like this in good old grants pass. sandwiches, burgers and pizza? hell yes! this is a great looking menu and i highly approve.
as far as pizzas go they are pretty darn good. i'm never one to get pizza unless it's delivery but circle j changed me in that way. i love the southern comfort because i love me a good bbq pizza and this is it.
the sandwiches are definitely different with so many to choose from. my favorite is the roast beef with cheddar and horseradish aioli on grilled sourdough. i also love the bbq chicken with cheddar and bacon on grilled sourdough.
with such a great menu and so much to offer i expected more as far as burgers, much more. the blue cheese burger is the best of course. the sweet potato fries are pretty good but after awhile they do get old fast.
it's nice to see grants pass going upscale and it's a cool trend but let's not get too crazy and give this cute town a big head!
-
Passing through Grants Pass on vacation we checked out Circle J. This was another winner. The decor is a relaxed and fun. The food we had was marvelous. Fish taco was a nice blend of spice with grilled fish. The Avocado Club was fresh and tasty. The sweet potato fries lived up to previous reviews. The Spinach Salad was awesome. The Wild Run pizza was a fantastic mix of salmon and cilantro. We were quite impressed.
-
This restaurant is, by far, our favorite in the area...the food is always fresh and cooked to perfection, the variety is excellent, and the martini pizza is so tasty that we can't resist it! The wait staff is always friendly and eager to please, and the owner is wonderful! We LOVE Circle J, and will come back again and again!
-
Very eclectic, hip atmosphere. Pub type menu except that the food is the star. Reasonable prices, friendly people. Sometimes under staffed and a little slow. Leave your uptight self at the door and enjoy this great little hole-in-wall wonder!
-
I hit Circle J's for somewhere new for lunch (hey, I'm new to town). I was intrigued by all of the five star ratings for this place so decided it warranted a look.
When I walked in, the place was packed at 1pm. I was able to land the last table. OK, crowded is a good sign?
The menu had a good selection of salads, burgers, cold & hot sandwiches and pizzas. I had a hard time deciding, most of it looked good.
I tried the greek chicken grilled sandwich with regular fries. Ingredients listed where chicken, feta, spinach, red onion, greek peppers and pepper jack cheese and a garlic sauce. I was expecting a bulging sandwich based on the list of ingredients, but was pleasantly surprised with a right-sized sandwich.
Now this was a tasty sandwich, bursting with flavor. The fries were, well, regular. Nothing to write home about.
I'm going to try the pizza next time.
Despite being crowded, service was pretty quick and I was not left waiting. I never had to flag down the waitress for anything. She showed up when needed and was quick to return. Excellent.
-
A chance stop between Portland and Santa Cruz that was an excellent find. Lunch (Diego burger, turkey club, sweet potato fries, side Caesar) were all fresh, well-prepared and very tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. Menu is large and varied; top-notch ingredients worth the $10/plate cost.
-
My favorite place in grants pass. Best sandwiches, sweet potato fries, and salmon caesar. I come here every time I'm on grants pass. Love sitting outside on he sidewalk.
-
on a roadtrip from LA to Seattle and someone at some point mentioned grants pass. I saw that we'd be hitting the town around lunchtime so after checking out good 'ole yelp, we decided that this looked like the perfect spot for us. I thought that the menu items were super unique and the vibe was for sure a 5. I had the Go Nuts with the garden patty (hold the pepperjack) with a side salad (berry vin) and it was AMAZING - I'm a total sucker for anything with peanut butter. The hubs got the burger and fries - the fries were a bit overcooked and he rated the burger a 3. The service was really great and the decor was badass right down to the chalkboard bathroom walls and mirrored ceiling. I'd for sure come back to this spot.
-
Circle J has AMAZING sandwiches and sweet potato fries. Would recommend the French Turkey! Totally worth stopping in Grants Pass for lunch or dinner.
-
SO SO GOOD! Funky and eclectic, this place consistently delivers delicious food with a happy atmosphere that you would expect to find in a larger city. Try the soup, you'll love it as much as I love this place.
-
Read about this place on Yelp, and it sounded fun, so tried it out on a long weekend trip to the area. Funky decor, but thoughtfully so, and great beer selection. Great veggie sections for the girl, and my partner loved her meal. I had THE best burger I've eaten in years! Smallish space was also occupied by a bunch of 20-something soccer players, a couple of families with small kids, and a local couple on a "date night"--noisy at times, but full of energy. Def. gonna return next time we're in GP.
-
Possibly the best place I've ever eaten, awesome burgers, the blueberry vinaigrette is to want to take home in a a bottle! Salads are all to die for and so are the pizzas, never had anything that wasn't to die for, and service rocks! Make sure you use the girls room while there ;)
-
WOW! You have to try their Greek Chicken sandwich with sweet potatoe fries!! I've had this like 6 times now, and it's so good I just don't want to even try anything else when I go. The atmosphere is very chill. They really are popular and should expand their space. The seating is a bit cramped. Love, love, love this place!!!! Yummy food, good service (VERY friendly and easy-going waitresses).
-
Went in while on an overnight trip to Grants Pass and I could not have been any happier. The decor is awesome, the beer list is great, and the pizza I had was simply divine. We got the Lei Pizza which had pineapple, ham, red bell peppers, and cream cheese. The service was superb as well. We liked so much that we are going in again before leaving town.
-
Great food & very "city" boho atmosphere. A wonderful surprise on G street!
-
The Salmon Caesar is the BEST CAESAR SALAD in the Rogue Valley! Such a treat!
-
The food and service were great. They were definitely 5 star worthy. We had coconut shrimp and a rueben with fries. The lighting made it hard to read the menu. I am disabled with a service dog and maneuvering through the door and on uneven floors is hard for me. I will definitely return, but only with someone that can handle the door for us, or for take out. The staff made no move to assist either myself or my elderly guest with the door.
-
Best burgher ever, great service, wonderful funky athmosphere
-
I was stopping through Grants Pass on the way to a fishing trip with my father, poked my head in for a bite and cold beer. Inside was rad, seriously. Books everywhere, animal skulls on the wall, cool sayings posted everywhere, a real neat vibe and great energy. The waitress was sweet and the IPA beer selection was wonderful. I had a burger which was cooked perfect med rare and fries were golden. I will make it a statement to eat here every time I pass through this town from now on!
-
Like to give a 4.5 --I enjoyed that much. Only been in Grants Pass first day out of 3 days. And yes I used YELP. Cafe is small, intimate with your fellow customers, but we lucked out on a Sat. I recommend go late like we did, around 2pm for lunch. Timing was perfect no wait.
We ordered Wild Salmon Caesar Salad and a Mavris Style Pizza. They offer the white garlic sauce on many varieties, ours had chicken, spinach, onion, pepperoni, feta cheese. Super delish. They offer to split topping varieties on half for $1 extra.
I wanted to order the pot pie, meat or veg style, but had no room it. next time.
the artisan thin pizza was a large 12" seemed like a 14", and with Salad and pizza cost $40 (High quality :)
Good beer selection on tap for $4.25, Caldera Brewery Ashland Amber, and Dead Guy by Rogue Brewery..cheers to both. And cheers to service, location, we will be back to old town for the pot pie. Be nice if they had a website and menu online. -
Kid friendly but no strollers allowed inside. Great sandwiches, burgers, fish tacos, and sweet potato fries.
-
Omigoodness, this is definitely a hidden treasure. My husband and I ate lunch there while we were passing through town. We didn't expect much, but boy were we wrong! The hamburgers are the best I've ever tasted! The seasonings and toppings and the meat, everything was perfect! Not to mention their awesome sweet potato fries. My husband got a caesar salad, which was great (though it could have used a little more of that great caesar dressing). It's a small restaurant, so big parties are discouraged, and the decor might not be for some people (some mounted deer heads, a hipster atmosphere). But the food is worth any minor discomforts!
-
Interesting place. Where people say "eclectic" about the decor, i would say food for thought, maybe a little disturbing. As a vegetarian i was scratching my head over the juxtaposition of stuffed animal heads and paintings of the hunt, with plenty of meat on the menu, and then also a good vegetarian (and vegan) offering, and several Buddhas and spiritual icons represented. Clueless rednecks, cynical hipsters, or just trying to present an all-inclusive, thought-provoking environment to show the city folks they're not backwoods ignoramuses? I think the latter... and methinks i probably overthink it.
However, the food was fine. My daughter said her Basil Burger was the best hamburger she'd ever had. Our friend and i shared a pizza: half-Heartbreaker (with rosemary and roasted potatoes) and half Sister Mary (cheese or margherita-style), and they were worthy of a pizza critic's tasting. Nice crust (thinly-layered dough sheets making a crispiness, kind of like filo dough, and a satisfyingly oily... delicious!), clever ingredients, but perhaps a little overpeppered. I did notice that they not only charge you for the higher-priced half of the pizza, but add a dollar for the fact that it's split. Not a big deal, but you'd think getting the extra $$ for the cheaper half would be enough.
I had some sort of microbrew ale, can't remember which, perfect with the pizza.
Oh, i did enjoy the music. It was a kind of classier classic rock (Pink Floyd, Dylan), played at the perfect volume: audible but not intrusive.
Our server was Katie. She was quite helpful, energetic, and friendly, and sent us out the door with our chocolate dessert cake, $6, which we saved for the road. Three of us split the cake on the Smith River heading down to Crescent City, leaving a very nice taste in our mouths of good and plenty chocolate yumminess.
Not a place you'd expect in Grants Pass, or at least you wouldn't have a few years ago when it was a struggling recovering logging community. The people at the bicycle shop recommended it to us on our last trip through town... we probably would not have chosen a place called "Circle J" without the suggestion. We were pleasantly surprised, and i'm glad i went back this last time-- confirmed my sense that there's a nice treat waiting at the southern end of Oregon.
-
Stopped in after three days on the Rogue River and was very pleased. We had an assortment of food, all was good, and a definite step up from typical bar food. Service was a little slow, but nothing bad. Unique and funky decor adds to the experience. We recommend this place to any passers by.
-
Loved the atmosphere. Loved the sweet potato fries and the peanut butter burger. Awesome.
-
The staff is friendly and attentive. I have yet to have a recommendation that was not as advertised from the staff. Atmosphere is inviting and lively with unique decor. Each food item I have experienced there has tasted fresh and felt like it was intentionally paired together.
-
Loved it!! Took my son who is a picky eater and he cleaned his plate! Will definitely go here again. Great service and impeccable food the sweet potato fries and avocado club were to die for!
-
Stopped by this place in Grants Pass while on an Oregon vacation. We based it off of the Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint! The reviews are spot on, especially about the sweet potato fries. My girlfriend and I shared one of their pizza's and it was really really really good! No to mention they had some great imperial IPA's on tap to wash it down with. The place is small and we stopped around the lunch hour but there was no wait. Our server was really polite. The menu options are impressive, I'm going to miss not being able to try more there.
-
Above-average pizza, even by SF standards, scrumptious Caesar salad (although bit skimpy on the fish if you choose the salmon option), kick-ass sandwiches and super-friendly service. The only place we ate in Grant's Pass!
-
Out-of-towners with three young kids found this gem of a place and had a great meal. The cafe is intimate and eclectic making for an exciting dinner. You could spend quite some time looking at the interesting artifacts which adorn this place. Service was excellent and fast. The stew was a surprising highlight (choose it over the fries if you so lucky to be there when they have it - well worth the extra $1.95). The seven deadly burgers may be sinful but they taste like heaven. The ciabatta buns were surprisingly soft and the burgers cooked to juicy perfection. Kids meals are basic but satisfied the kids. Good selection of beers on tap. It was very warm in the cafe when we were there but the fast service made it bearable. Pass on the litany of chain restaurants in town and enjoy yourself here.
-
Quick service, tasty food, and cold beer. A winning combination in my book. Just wished they had a little more lighting. All in all, worth going to.
-
Gotta Love the fish tacos, and the service is great! My go to place with out of town guests, and all business lunches. We have been faithful clients of this wonderful place for years.
-
Visiting form Chicago and are always I search of good bar food and great beer! Well we found it here! Our burgers were great and the Ruben was amazing. Nice little selection of craft beers made for an enjoyable lunch. Our waitress was very friendly and patient with us as we couldn't make up our minds. If we are so lucky to be in Grants Pass again it will be on our todo list.
-
Loved the ceaser salad and the homemade bread that comes with it.
-
Stopped here with my husband and son on the way to Oregon from Los Angeles. It was SO GOOD! I got a salmon sandwich. A SALMON SANDWICH? Never had one before. It was so freaking good. The side salad I got was equally good, made even better by using some of my husband's caesar dressing. Best caesar dressing I've ever had.
So obviously, my husband's caesar with chicken was also delicious. Only thing I didn't love? My son's pizza. Not bad, but not fantastic.
I'm still giving it 5 stars because my food and my man's food was so damn good and the service was AMAZING! Also, fun decor and customers. GO HERE if you're going through Grants Pass, or if you live there. GO! -
This place is worth a visit just for the unique decorations...cozy and crazy at the same time. Delicious burgers and beer...great spot to hang out!
-
I live here and love to eat at Circle J anytime!! They have a great menu and really tasty food. I take my friends here when they come from out of town and never have been let down. Atmosphere is brew pubish, food is great, and service always really good....they get busy, but even when every table is full, they get to you in a timely manner. Did I mention the sweet potato fries?? Highly recommended by a local..you'll never go wrong eating here.
-
Cool little place in downtown GP. Good food, service, prices, and ambiance. What else can I say? We had lunch and it was very good.
-
Service was a bit slow, but food was AMAZING!!! Also, lots of organic food and really unique atmosphere. Reasonably priced.
-
Casual and comfortable. Great fish and chips. Burgers good too. Really good fries. Good service
-
I love this place! I don't make it here from the coast but a few times per year, but when we come through it is definitely a highlight to our trip.
When they first opened in Crescent City, CA, it quickly became our favorite lunch spot. The soups, sandwiches, burgers, etc were all fantastic, but it was the daily pasta salad that was a real kick in the pants. Since moving to GP, it looks like the pasta salad is a rarity, which is a bummer, but being replaced by sweet potato fries and an ever expanding menu seems like a fair trade off.
The pizzas are great, the burgers are awesome and my favorite grilled chicken sandwiches really hit the spot.
As a few other reviewers have noted: the quarters can be a little cramped - but this ends up well as everyone is friendly and you get to observe what others are enjoying so you will have an idea as to what to try on your next visit; Service might become a little slow when the place is packed - as long as you remember this isn't a fast-food place, you'll be fine, so sit back, enjoy the ambiance, your company and the food!
I'm glad I'm heading to the area tomorrow - I'm definitely surprising my wife by taking us there tomorrow - she's just not expecting it! Enjoy!!!
-
This is worth a stop off the freeway if you wanna sit your butt down and don't wanna do it at Burger King. Nice take on the usual American fare. Sandwiches were good! Side salad generous. Same with thick cut fries.
The establishment does lean ever so slightly to the heavy side on flair. I found it necessary to correct numerous spelling and grammatical errors in the chalk graffiti in the men's bathroom - graffiti clearly written by a female employee to jumpstart lulzy graffiti writing. I will leave the interpretation of this fact as an exercise for the reader.
-
We've been going to Circle J's for a number of years and I can't seem to order anything other than their Caesar Salad, sometimes with chicken on it. I seem to be addicted and when I go out and order a Caesar anywhere else I can't help but compare it. Nothing has come close it's that good. The homemade bread they give you is so good too. But for some reason you always have to ask for butter with it. They seemed to have had a change of personnel in the last few months and the servers are not as friendly or good. I have had their chicken greek sandwich also and it was very good. Our favorite spot to eat lunch!
-
What a great place! Very tasty. They provide Himalayan pink salt (so much better for you with it's mineral and iron content). I ordered the avocado club (BLT w/ avo.) with garlic aioli instead of mayo. It was delicious. The butter croissant made it a little too rich for me. I would order it on sourdough next time. Came with a nice caesar salad for $2 extra. I had a bite of my sister's vegetable root pizza. It was good with lots of big roasted garlic cloves (my fav), but I'm not a fan of thin breaded pizza.
This review lost a star because there wasn't much offered for a 2 year old. She seemed to enjoy the root pizza though. They were good about getting her a highchair, coloring book and a cup with a lid, it even came with a short straw, which helps.
I liked the decor. Real funky with deep colors. Nice location in Down Town. We walked around looking at all the cute shops until they opened.
Friendly tentative server. They have some interesting dry sodas I want to try. Like vanilla bean, rhubarb, lavender and more. -
Excellent food and service, the salmon used comes from the local Rogue River. I will definitely be dining here again.
-
I'm fairly new to the area and have eaten here a few times now. The service is great, seating can be a bit of challenge so you may want to get there ahead of time, and the food is pretty good as well. I typically have one of their burgers which are fairly tasty and their salads aren't too bad either. You can choose between regular or sweet potato fries, both of which are great. The setting itself makes for a great conversation starter since the walls are covered with an eclectic mix of items.
If you are looking for a unique taste of Grants Pass, be sure to stop by and check this hidden gem out.
-
This is our go-to spot with friends! You MUST try the Basil Burger, the Go Nuts! Burger (a peanut butter & jelly burger) & their fish tacos!!!! Love this place!!!
-
What a great, off-beat find. GREAT pizza, great funky decor with a laid back vibe. Definitely coming back here.
-
The Wild Salmon Caesar Salad and their fish Tacos were excellent.
Was traveling through. Would never have picked it without the help of Yelp.
-
Thin pizza with delicious sauce. Fresh ingredients and definitely worth the roof of the mouth burn. Cool atmosphere and chill music. Loved it!
-
These are the places you hope to find when on long road trips with a large group of kids and adults. Pretty granola menu with lots o' vegan choices and a microbrew list of options that will satisfy all.
We were ready for mostly comfort food so can't comment on the more creative aspects of the menu, but the sweet potato fries were quite good, the caeser salad was huge, fresh and tasty, burgers were enjoyed by all (including the vegan burger) and an oh so hoppy local IPA whose name escapes me made that drive to Eureka much more palatable (only one, I promise!).
Now it's possible that we were the only table that was not on 'shrooms, but the crunchy feel, solid food and calming yet interesting ambience is the perfect antidote to the drudgery of those long drives. And the area immediately around Circle J is worth exploring too--including a great little coffee/tee shop and alternative medicine shop within a few doors of Cirlce J.
-
One of the few decent restaurant in Grants Pass. When I visit home from New York I usually eat at Circle J's at least once. Their sweet potato fries are great and their whole sandwich selection is delicious. I usually go with the salmon because, let's face it, the West Coast has the East beat on great salmon dishes.
The service has always been very warm and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Grants Pass and often bring friends here who are traveling to grants pass with me.
-
Best sweet potato fries. Perfect french dip. Loved it. My husband had the basil burger and he said it was good but all burgers were ruined after he had the best in his life at Block 15 in Corvalis, OR. The fries were perfect, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.
-
Loved the atmosphere in this place! Also I can't remember now but we had one of their special pizzas which was really yummy.
-
Family meal: excellent pizza sauce, fish & chips, PB&J, french dip as well as beer, wine and all the accessories. Fun interior & decor with good service and overall food above what I expected.
-
We've eaten at Circle J several times, but I've only had a few items--they're so good, I don't want to try anything else! I think their Caesar dressing is the best in town. I love the thinly sliced chicken you can add, which suits it perfectly. Their pizzas are tasty. I love the thin crust and creative combinations for toppings. My partner's favorite is the Good Hunter and I like the Heartbreaker. I just wish the pizza wasn't quite so greasy. Also, my favorite sweet potato fries in town.
Service was good. The place was packed in a Thursday night, and the server was hustling to keep up when help arrived. They have a good selection of beer on tap, and a nice selection of wine. It's definitely one of my favorite spots in Grants Pass!
-
Good, fresh food. Their burgers and sandwiches are awesome. Maybe a little on the spendy side, but it's quality food. The atmosphere is great. There's all sorts of funky stuff on the walls to look at. They also have a lot of good local beer on tap. The staff is always friendly, although service gets fairly slow when they're busy. It's always been worth the wait though.
-
All the positive reviews of the place are spot on. Great food, excellent service, and the decor is very bohemian eclectic. One of my favorite spots!
-
This place has a cozy, intimate and eclectic atmosphere, and the waitresses are all super nice and chill. The food is fresh and tasty but limited if you can't eat wheat. LOTS of sandwiches, burgers and pizzas - but their soups and salads (wild salmon Ceaser is good, albeit a bit overly salty) are good. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Grants Pass - which is otherwise a disappointing place for foodies. (The Mediterranean and Casablanca are my other favorites here.) I was assured they are working to perfect a gluten-free pizza dough, so I'm looking forward to that! Also - I'm pretty sure they just have beer and wine so go elsewhere first if you want a cocktail.
Update: they do have GF pizza dough here now, not made in house but pretty decent! Great place to go for pizza even if you can't eat wheat : )
Update #2: BEST FISH TACOS IN TOWN. WHO KNEW?!
-
Great pizza! I would rate it in my top 5 pizzas that I've ever eaten. I would definitely come back and try more of their selection.
-
Great burgers. Great service. Food came quickly, our appetizer was out almost the same time as our drinks were ready! The burgers were delicious, greasy, juicy monstrosities of flavor. I couldn't even finish my plate. Definitely recommend.
-
I lived in Grants Pass for a year and this was by far my favorite restaurant. Great food, great beer, great service GREAT atmosphere!!! I always ordered their timbuktu burger: Fried egg, tomato, pickled beet,
greek peppers, caramelized pineapple, 1000 Island dressing!Sounds weird i know but it's delicious. My bf always ordered the
Diego Burger: Pepperjack, avocado, tomato, sprouts,
jalapenos, red onion, cilantro pesto, romaine and mayo. Also Delish! The burgers are served with regular fries or....wait for it...SWEET POTATO FRIES! yum. You can't go wrong with a restaurant that serves sweet potato fries right? Their pizzas are so good as well.
And Ninkasi pretty much on tap at all times? Yeah, you best get your butt over to this restaurant stat!
-
Went for the first time yesterday. Great food, good beer selection, and good service. Would give it 5 stars, but there is no A/C and it was 100 degrees outside. Would have stayed longer if it were more comfortable. Will definitely be back, when the temp outside drops!
-
Love, love, love this place! After a lengthy road trip, how great to stumble upon a place with original flavors and an eclectic beer collection too!
The salmon sandwich was delicious, perfectly cooked, seasoned with fresh flavors and plenty of greens. The sweet potato fries, as noted plenty of times before, are one of the best examples anywhere. Everything we ordered was delicious.
Now I'm just sad I don't have a reason to roll thru town again . . .
-
Excellent food, great beer selection, super nice staff! Glad we stopped in!!!
The sweet potato fries rock!!! -
My friends and I love to eat here, and I always take my friends from out of town here. It is an original dining experience and a fun atmosphere. The food is delicious and has complex flavors that flow nicely together. The Caesar salad is amazing! Everyone is always friendly and the service is fast.
-
I love this place and go there every time I'm in the area. It used to be in Crescent City (my hometown) and they had some awesome pasta, but unfortunately they don't have it anymore.
I used to get the Greek Chicken sandwich, but after becoming a vegetarian a few years ago, I realized I couldn't order that. Now I get the "greek chicken minus the chicken plus ranch." The sweet potato fries that come with the sandwiches are amazing. They used to make a cheese fondue that came with a slice of bread and some vegetables, but I haven't been there in a while and I'm not sure if they still have it. If they do, get it, it's delicious.
In addition to the yummy food, the atmosphere is fantastic. I love all the neat things hanging on the walls, and the staff is very laid back. The bathroom is painted with chalkboard paint, and you can write on it if you please.
I can't wait to make a trip home, so I can go to grants pass and eat at Circle J's.
-
We ate at this restaurant for lunch today after searching on yelp for food options here in Grants Pass.
I had the wild salmon Cesar salad and soup of the day ( mixed veg. and wild rice ). They were both very good. We also order sweet potato fry and buttered fried fish, they were tasty too.
If we come back to Grants Pass, we will come bach here again. I want to try their burger and pizza.
-
Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Located in an an old brick building, decor is eclectic as is the wait staff. But...awesome service, terrific food and great beer. I had their wild salmon sandwich with the sweet potato fries since they were mentioned so many times on the Yelp reviews. Definitely the best sweet potato fries I've had - crisp exteriors and creamy inside! Yum! Paired with a Ninkasi Total Domination Ale...it doesn't get much better.
Definitely will come back here again.
-
Great place & vibe. The grilled salmon sandwich with sweet potatoes fries are the bomb. It would be 5 stars if they had a better beer selection.
-
We were on a roadtrip from Seattle to San Francisco and found this place on Yelp. The reviews sounded too good to be true, so we drove a little out of our way to try it out. Wow! We are so glad that we did! The funky dcor and ambience was fun to look at while we waited for our food. And the food.....was fantastic! I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad and then shared the French Dip Sandwich with my husband. My daughter had the Chicken Club and my son had the Cheddar Bacon Burger. It was so great and we had so much fun talking with our waitress that we accidentally left our credit card sitting on the table! We didn't realize it until we were stopping at our next destination a few hours later. We called the Circle J and they were so nice about it. Our waitress found our card and kept it safe. She took down our home address and mailed it back to us. Talk about amazing customer service!!!
-
Pretty decent meal at an eclectic place- including chalk in the bathroom for writing on the walls and ceiling.
For lunch I had the House Grill, which was a panini of sorts, with artichoke hearts, olives, tomatoes and melted cheese. It was simple enough in its construction, but very tasty. The sweet potato fries were also extremely delicious and probably boosted my rating up a half star. The meal around $10 and came out quickly as well.
This is the type of place I like to eat when in a new town. I would return in the future to further delve into their menu (possibly one of their pizzas!)
-
The food here was amazing and it was fast and professionally served. They only issue would be the quantity for the price. It was way to expensive for what it was.
-
Almost five star nummy food and four star service. The staff is friendly and out going but during busy times the waitress seems over whelmed. Although I was very impressed that she walked a little girl back to the bathroom and made sure she made it back to her outside table where her dad was waiting. That brings the whole thing to five stars.
Hubby had the BBQ Chicken sandwich and fries. The fries where fresh and tasted outstanding. Hubby says the sandwich was delicious. It smelled Devine, I could not try it because it contained bacon.
I had the French Dip with a Side Salad. Fresh greens and homemade ranch. Best Ranch I have ever tasted. Fresh baked baguette for the French dip. Meat had excellent flavor and so did the dipping juice. If passing through Grants Pass I would recommend eating here. If we are ever passing through again I want to try one of the many artisan pizzas. -
Loved the mushroom blue cheese burger! Grilled to perfection; cheese was gooey perfect! Wonderful, messy burger! And the atmosphere was super fun!
-
Came here about a week ago. Was not disappointed at all!
Came in and was welcomed with a hello, a friendly smile and sat down right away. Ordered the appetizer sampler and it was out really fast (the jalapeno poppers and fried zucchini were AMAZING!!) Not to mention the really good marinara sauce.
After having that, we had a moment to talk and enjoy the interestingly hip decor. Wasnt too long and our food was out. Which was also really good.
To sum it up, we will be back and Ive already started recommending it to people.
Keep up the good work guys! -
We stopped here for dinner on a road trip from CA to Seattle, and had a wonderful meal. The ambience is cosy and the food and beer were yummy (and a good selection of beer and food too). But the best thing about Circle J -- and the reason I felt compelled to write this review -- is the service. Our waitress was very friendly, and patient with our kids, and knowledgeable and efficient. Most impressive of all, though, was what happened after we left. I realized somewhere near Portland that I left behind my jacket at Circle J, and one of the servers (I think her name was Jenny), went out of her way to take it to the post office and spend her own money to mail it back to me in CA (I reimbursed her later). Good for Circle J hiring people who are so kind & thoughtful! It makes a difference.
-
I have eaten here about a half dozen times and it is one of the first places I like to go when in town. I love the salmon caesar salad, with its generous portions of salmon. This last time I also ordered a cup of the clam chowder. This is really misnamed. It should be the chowdery clams. Most restaurants put a few small pieces of clam in their chowder, and you are luck to get a piece every few bites. Circle J loads in the clams, so there are several pieces per bite. And, it was tasty to boot. I have found another favorite.
Also, try their homemade cookies. Excellent!!
Service here has always been good. It is a fun eclectic place.
Highly recommend!!
-
Love it. My favorite place to eat/drink in grants pass. Food is excellent (clam chowder was the best I've ever had), great beer, friendly service, and the ambiance is awesome! I love the decorations in here I want my own home decorated like this! :) I love it, it's totally my style, food, drink, service, ambiance, the whole package!
-
Stopped in on a road trip. The we had the Diego burger, the Blue Cheese Burger and two ceasar salads. The Salmon Ceasar was the best. A half salad was enough, I couldnt imagine having a whole one. The waitress was great, very helpful.
-
We liked this place so much we went back. My wife and I split a butter croissant turkey club sandwich and cups of soup. WOW. Corn chowder was great, and the sandwich was so good I get hungry thinking about it. This place gets busy and they do not have a lot of tables, I recommend getting there early for dinner.
LOVE THIS PLACE -
Great stop driving through on the way to Seattle. I hit a garden salad with soup. I ordered Ortega Soup and didn't like it and the lady took it back and exchanged it for a Carrot Soup- and I didn't like that either and she was kind enough to remove the soup from the bill without my asking. Sweet! My wife got a club sandwich and that was shared with me and delicious in alfalfa sprouts. The environment is interesting with lots of deer busts surrounding the interior. Great stop! Recommend.
-
Circle J is one great place to eat! Great salads and wonderful service, hometown feeling!
-
Tasty food and super friendly service. Had a great burger with just the right amount of sauce to get great flavor in every bite without sauce dripping down your chin. I really appreciate that.
-
Quirky decor and excellent food!! Stopped here while traveling home from the Ashland Shakespeare Festival. I ate the bacon, tomato and avocado sandwich on a croissant. It had plenty of fresh avo slices, good bacon, and the croissant was fresh and not dry. Hot and flavorful sweet potato fries. Had a glass of Ninkasi ale (on tap). Our server was friendly and attentive. I would definitely eat here again.
-
This seems like one of the better places to eat in Grants Pass. My friend and I stopped in for a few pints and loved the food menu and decorations. The servers were also very nice and did a pretty good job. I look forward to coming back and trying the food cause it all looked amazing and well prepared.
-
This little hole in the wall cafe is very deceptive on the outside, not looking any different from most storefront bistros... but once inside, a spell is cast. The walls are literally covered with quotes from past patrons. Not only do they allow you to write on the walls, they actually encourage it. The beer selection is great for a small restaurant, consisting of mostly locally brewed favorites. The menu is eclectic but casual, full of sandwiches, salads, pizzas and the like with very reasonable prices. The service is amazing - friendly, fast and efficient - and the food is freakin' amazing. My wife and I ordered a pint of a local porter and decided to try two different burgers and cut them in half to share. She ordered a burger called the Timbuktu - fried egg, tomato, pickled beet, Greek peppers, caramelized pineapple, 1000 Island dressing - with sweet potato fries. Does it sound weird? Yes, but OMG, is it delicious! My burger choice was the Go Nuts - bacon, peanut butter, pepper jack cheese, raspberry chipotle bbq sauce and mayo - with coconut curry lentil soup. To rant with labels like sublime, euphoric, heavenly, sinful, etc would be an extreme understatement. Remember THAT scene from When Harry Met Sally? Let's just say I wasn't faking. These guys take farm to table ingredients to a whole new level of deliciousness.
-
Here again.. Tonight it's the spinach salad followed by a tasty pizza. Busy fun vibe here and cool decor ...
-
Came here at 6:45 last night (Saturday) and it, like the other recommended place across the street were pretty much dead. Perhaps because it's the last day of the county fair and we did see long lines of people buying tickets... I digress.
Husband got the burger that's supposed to come with jalapeos but asked to hold them. While eating his burger he said that the jalapeos are probably what "makes" the sandwich so while it was good, I think he felt it was a little unremarkable. It had sprouts and he liked those! I had the salmon Caesar salad and it was delish ( if I may use that word). I'm always a little iffy on ordering a salad because I like a lot of dressing but his was the perfect amount of dressing! Salmon came in little pieces atop the lettuce so don't expect a fillet. I presumed it was wild caught but should have asked..... Decor is super unique and fun for my 2 year old to look at. -
This place is on my rotation of eateries now after three visits..simply excellent in every phase: Service is prompt and friendly/welcoming, food is Portland-Seattle worthy, portions and price are spot on. Will visit frequently on my monthly trips to GP/MED.
Circle J Caf, bright spot in Southern and hitting the mark.
-
Good food! Not the best service, wait staff seems very rushed and almost like you're bothering them (this is how it feels every time I've been here, so 7-10 times) Customer service is so crucial, especially in a small town.
-
I go to this awesome restaurant often! Food and service never disappoint me..always excellent! I especially love the spinach salad and their burgers are terrific! I've tried numerous menu items and all have been great..love that they use fresh organic ingredients!
-
You kind of have to love the Hendrix meets dead stuffed animal motif. The food is even better, if you love pizza, burgers or sandwiches. Which is, you will want one of these, chased down with a micro brew.
-
Delicious food and great ambience. I had the deep fried portabellos and the Mushroom and bleu cheese burger and they were great.
-
Great bohemian rock n roll place to eat w delicious food. We had spicy veg soup and turkey club. Friendly nice service
-
The sweet potato fries alone justify a visit here. They're perfectly crispy on the outside while hot and soft on the inside, and they balance salty and sweet on the tip of your tongue with every bite. The sandwiches are tasty, though a little on the salty (and pricey) side. I would definitely recommend the Greek Chicken if you're into bold flavors; the tang of pesto and peperoncinis really brought the sandwich to life.
This place is great for a casual date (not from personal experience), but also for a quiet lunch alone (from personal experience). Aww, sad.
-
Very nice decor, makes you feel welcome when you walk in, had good service and good food as well, yummy French dip sandwich! I'll definitely be back again!
-
I worked for Stephanie when I was in High School (20 years ago) at a place called Alias Jones. I've loved her food then and it only gets better. I make a point to come in every time I'm in town. It's a great local place for food and beer. Friendly staff and service.
-
A surprise for your eyes and palate! Pull up a rug and sink into this delightful cafe that's more like an artisan pub...with a few furry wall mounts.
Digs:
If Gaston (from Beauty & the Beast), was bred in Portland, received a culinary degree and listened to Dave Matthews Band, you might get a flavor of Circle J's decor; rugs hang from the walls with detailed native garb then splashed with gnarly fixtures (skulls, lamps, mirrors); if a garage sale had a fashion sense with a brick-backdrop this would be it;Ate:
Salmon Sandwich - belly/mouth very happy; no patty just real delicious salmon on a craft bun with balanced lettuce, tomato, caper dressing;
Sweet Potato Fries - the only real negative was the slightly soggy fries, still very much edible just not to the pinnacle of crisp sweet fries you would imagine (or I would);Drank:
Lost Coast Brewing - Downtown Brown - on tapService:
Charming girl that treated us like an old friend (happy/ forgiving of our indecisive-ness);
Service BONUS:
My lady had just ran a half-marathon in rain and was soaked to the bra-core and we were going to purchase a shirt for $20...out of shear kindness she shocked us with "just take it, no problem!" Wow. I know it's merch-shallow to skew a review but that was incredibly understanding for her perspective of the situation - thank you.Overall:
I'm craving to return to this oasis in the hills of Grants Pass. Circle J has strong food presence, funky-fresh decor, and smiling service that's hard to say no to. The pizza is next on my hit list. Finally a keeper from GP. -
Trippy and orgasmically delicious. The sign says they cater to renegades and rebels, and if you are lucky enough to meet the proprietor, you'll see why. Ambience is thrift-store chic; you'd better pray there's never an earthquake when you eat here or you'll be buried in tacky artwork. The soups are like drugs: a real rush and addicting - never the same one twice it seems. Pizzas and sandwiches both feature weird and eclectic ingredient combos. The biggest problem is deciding WHICH thing to order. Keep a list and check off each new thing you try at respective visits.
-
Circle J Cafe is one of my favorite places in GP. Great food, good prices, cold beer and a friendly staff. You gotta try the peanut butter burger, there is nothing like it anywhere!
-
Awesome service. Great atmosphere. Good food. And a nice beer selection. This place is the bees knees. We will be back! A++
-
Went back after hearing of new owners and staff and was pleasantly surprised. Same menu and atmosphere, but much better quality food and service. Had the Diego burger and pizza with an apricot cider. Burger was juicy and cooked to my specifications (med rare). The pizza was really good too forgot what it was called though... Now if they had a full bar....
-
Love this little gem! The mood is eclectic and fun. Our favorite fish taco in town!!!
-
This was my first time in the Circle J. I enjoyed all their funky decor and the waitress was very friendly. I ordered the basic burger (vegan) with sweet potato fries and it was super tasty and a good portion. I'll definitely stop here again and try something else off the menu next time.
-
This was a recommendation from our hotel staff. They couldn't have sent us to a better place. This is a place we will definitely keep in our list when traveling thru this area again. Awesome food and atmosphere, and very nice servers. Made us feel welcome even though we were tourists. We had the classic cheeseburger, mad max pizza and the jalapeo burger with a slice of strawberry cheesecake to go. All delicious!
-
Food was excellent. I got the peanut butter burger which was heavenly and my husband got the Bleu cheese burger which he said was also delicious. Lots of beers to choose from. The service was mediocre nothing great.
-
We had lunch and were amazed at the good food and casual atmosphere. The decorations were eclectic and service was fantastic. Our party had two different pizzas, chicken Caesar salad and chicken sandwich. All the food was fresh, perfectly prepared and tasted fantastic. Highly recommend. Great for families!
-
Not knowing where to eat in Grant's Pass, we stumbled on this little gem. The art in the restaurant was very creative. Service was very friendly and fast. My hubby and I both ordered salmon burgers and they were tasty. No complaints.
-
Craving out of this world pizza? Circle Jay makes the best pizzas! I also look forward to their killer burgers and fries whenever I'm in town. A definite must try!
-
We stopped into Circle-J cafe on our road trip to Portland, and after all day of driving, we were ready for a serious lunch. We were not disappointed either! All three of us had sandwiches, and all of us agreed that it might have been the best sandwich any of us had tried.
We sat outside on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and were waited on by the nicest server ever. I regret that I cannot remember her name. Service was prompt and excellent.
I had a veggie sandwich and it was drool worthy. Amazing fresh bread, tons of veggies, and just all around delicious. I wish I lived closer!!
Thanks for a sweet lunch spot for some weary travelers. -
I absolutely love this woman!!! I grew up eating her foods at Alias Jones in Crescent City and she is soooo sweet and super amazing!!! And hey Steph I'm still waiting for you to send me the pesto recipe u promised me???!!! ( webbnicolle@gmail.com )
-
If you haven't tried this GEM of a restaurant please indulge! EVERYTHING on the menu is simply marvelous! Great service, chef and staff
-
If u want a really good burger...omg! Yum and sweet potato French fries R amazing!!
-
We've eaten here every time we come through Grants Pass. Never disappointed. Always very satisfied. Great variety in the menu with plenty of vegetarian choices. The food is quiet good and service exceptional.
-
Love this place!! Great food and drinks. My fav is the hot pastrami!!! Yum!! My kids always have a great time when we eat out here. They love looking at all the cool decorations on the walls!
-
I have been going to this wonderful place since it opened. They get to see me a couple times of week. I go there because the food is not only excellent with great variety but healthy and organic and they happily accommodate my crazy allergies!!! The wait is definitely worth it!
The staff is top notch and the owners are awesome! -
Really like the pizza here, it's a funky casual atmosphere. Good salads and great dressing. Love the berry vinaigrette.
-
Yusssssss. I love this kind of kitschy mishmosh space. It's stimulatingly confusing: a mix of rocker and religious paraphenelia - is it ironic? is it a heartfelt quirky hybrid? is it completely haphazard? Who's to know?
All I know is that I loved the music (stuff ranging from my ipod circa 2000's: Shins, Ratatat... to present-day: Alt-J and some other electro-indy stuff).
Loved the service (down-to-earth, she even suggested some nifty places to hit up on our drive back home).
Scarfed down the food (finally a place that has a good bun for a burger and a Caesar salad that is crispy and flavorful).
I thank them for warning me repeatedly on the menu for their prolific use of mayo on everything so I could request to hold the mayo on everything.
Fresh, simple food with a small twist (their pesto/basil/fresh mozza burger was nifty).
No complaints here. I left thinking that Grants Pass is a pretty hip little town after all.
-
Visiting my sister in Grants Pass and she recommended Circle J for lunch. Great food at a reasonable price! Good selection of beer and generous portions. We ate the fried mushrooms (yummy!), Greek Chicken and Club Sandwiches, regular and sweet potato fries. All food was freshly prepared. This place is a gem. Find it and enjoy!
-
Amazing food and service! We went in right at about 5pm and it was just us in there. Our server was very informative and explained the menu wonderfully, offering many recommendations. She also explained that most items, especially baked breads and sauces, were made on site. Just an incredible gem waiting for you to discover. Highly recommend!
-
This is a true gem in our little town! My only complaint is that there is not another one on the other end of the valley! The portions are fabulous the food is wonderful the pastries are to die for and I have never encountered rude employees! You won't be sorry if you try Babe's Bakery, you will be back again!
-
I love this restaurant basil burger, fish tacos, green flash pizza, Reuben sandwich, best ceasar salad ever!!
-
I've been here 5 times in the past two months. The staff and food are awesome!
The menu is diverse and I've been happy with everything I've ordered.
-
So, I dont trhink I can write everything in my brain I got going on about this place. To much to say. I have tried different things all over their menu. From Pizza to Burgers, to Pasts. All Delicious!!!! Super cool place too. The decor is worth going to look at. I would encourage anyone in Grants Pass or traveling through to make sure you make this a stop!
-
They have the best sweet potato fries. Sandwiches are always good, just a little dry. Place is inviting and the staff is friendly.
-
Very original decor to say the least, I loved it. Had the French dip and the au jus was excellent. Very relaxing with great service
-
Still a great meal for a reasonable price! Never fails! And reasonable prices on a GREAT SELECTION Of WINE And BEERS!
Great and satisfying!
-
Love the ambiance of this place! Its a little dark but such a cool place to have a beer! We ordered the wings and a pizza ..wings were great and an awesome price $6 for 6 wings and an additional $1 a wing ..the pizza was good but to me, not $22 good the service was exceptional! We will come back to explore the menu for sure!
-
From the music that greets you at the entrance to the fun & ecclectic interior decor, this place is a fantastic hidden gem! We stopped here for lunch, on our way from LA to Portland (thank you Yelp).
Easy to find with street parking, right in front.
Some Yelp reviews said that service was bad, well that wasn't the case during our visit. Our server, Jennifer, was warm and inviting from the minute we stepped inside. She saw that we were cold and offered hot tea, love her already!
I asked for food recos and she gave great ones because we all loved what we ordered. My Go Nuts burger was so good! Peanut butter and bacon on a burger? Yes! Delish! Always go nuts when you can!!! Bean and sausage soup was incredibly flavorful. I seriously need to figure out how to re-create it at home because I could eat it all day, every day. Hubby's Diego burger and green chili soup where really good as well. Bestie's hot pastrami sandwich was a hit and so was my Gobna's turkey sandwich.
Do yourself a favor and make a stop at Circle J Cafe. You're welcome.
-
Their pizzas are the best in town. A little pricey but totally worth it. Try the blue cheese bacon pizza. So delicious!
-
Service was a little weird here. My partner mentioned we were vegan and the waitress gave us this shrug but didn't really offer suggestions. She also requested a modification on her meal but it was ignored. Two groups of people that sat down after us were served before us, which normally I wouldn't mind but we were ravenous.
Now, I guess the thing that counts. The food was better than the service, especially the vegan patties that seemed homemade? Whatever it was, it worked well and we all liked the food. The ambiance is...just strange, like they just put random objects on the walls without a theme or idea as to why.
I'd give this a shot if you were in Grant's Pass and other places hadn't impressed.
So, not quite 3 stars, but definitely not 5 stars.
-
This place is one of my favorites in grants pass. Awesome food and I love the atmosphere.
-
We should have come here years ago! It may be a food place but it also has great beer. That being said, after a fabulous burger and hot pastrami sandwich, we determined that these are the best fries in town. But then we were introduced to their dressings. Yes, we walked out with a pint each of the Ranch and Caesar - totally yum, fresh and homemade. We will be back very soon to try out their pizzas (and most likely buy the pizza dough) and enjoy Ana, their delicious server. Ana gave us the history of the building as well as entertaining us for our lunch. This will be our new local!!!
-
Always good service. Great atmosphere. Amazing food. Great beer too. Circle Js is my go to spot.
